I’m Rebecca Hilton, travel-lover, reading obsessive and mum-of-two doing my best to navigate life in a different country. I’m from the UK but over the last few years I’ve been trying to make wherever ‘here’ is feel like home – from Thailand to Germany and now Paris.
About Me
So, a bit about me. My career was in marketing and change management. I worked for several large multinational organisations in the UK before my husband’s job took us to Thailand. And then I had to work out who I was as an expat wife. It was a challenge, but also a wonderful opportunity.
When we moved to Germany, I decided to set up ‘Making Here Home’ partly because I needed something to keep my brain active, and partly because I think these experiences we have as expats are worth sharing.
The Expat Book Club
I was a member of a brilliant book club in Bangkok, and set one up in Germany. It quickly went from 4 to 40 members. This got me thinking about all the women living overseas who love to read, and how wonderful it would be to have a worldwide book club. So I started The Expat Book Club.
It’s an online community of women, connected via a shared love of reading – and it is now my virtual happy place! The Expat Book Club is on Facebook and on Instagram – if you’re a book lover, you are welcome here.
Read more about The Expat Book Club here in an interview I did with Expat Life in Thailand Magazine.
